Now while they didn’t get the fanfare that we got walking out, they sure do look relieved in these pictures. Remember it was 90 degrees outside. I’m sure everyone just wanted a drink!
First up was our bridal party, headed off by the maid-of-honor and best man.
Then the rest of our bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Then came Mr. A’s parents.
And my Momma and Daddy.
The main reason I wanted to do this post (besides giving my beautiful friends and family the spotlight again) is because of this picture of my Dad. I’ve mentioned before that he’s a pretty stoic, non expressive person (to people who don’t know him). I literally maybe have a handful of pictures of him actually smiling.
This picture sums him up pretty well. On his way back up the aisle with my Mom, they ran into a little girl who’s a family friend. Nothing makes my Dad happier than little kids. When he saw her, they stopped and had a whole conversation. At that moment, he didn’t care if he was in the spotlight, he just wanted to say hi to one of his favorite kids. That’s the Dad that I know that nobody else does.
Then came my grandparents.
In our wedding video, my brothers look like they are trying to get my grandparents to run back up the aisle. Guess they were hot too! It cracks me up every time.
The crowd was rounded out by our adorable ring bearer and flowergirl. They seriously make my heart melt.
And that ends our beautiful ceremony. I can’t believe the recaps went by so fast. Reliving it with you guys reminded me why I loved our ceremony so much and why I was so happy that we took the time to write it ourselves. It has to been on the top of my list of the things that all brides and grooms have to do.
After our first kiss, it was time for our preacher to bless our marriage with the benediction. Mr. A and I found this beautiful Native American blessing that we thought was perfect for the occasion.
“My wish for you is that you have a love that melts all opposition.
A love that conquers all foes.
A love that sweeps away all barriers.
A love that aboundeth in charity, a large-heartedness, tolerance, forgiveness and noble striving.
A love that triumphs over all obstacles.
May the happiness you share today be with you always and may every word you have pledged here be a living truth in your lives.”
With that short and simple prayer, our ceremony was done. I could hardly believe it. It all flew by so fast.
We took a deep breath and stood around hand-in-hand to face our family and friends. Then, our preacher introduced us for the first time. It was really crazy to hear my new last name. Something about it seemed just so surreal.
We walked hand-in-hand back down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife to the words of one of our favorite songs “Until You” by Dave Barnes (I know you saw that coming). Feel free to click on the link below and listen along.
As we walked, our guest threw rose petals from the toss bags we left on their chairs.
One of the best moments from our wedding video happened because of these bags.
My father, who is NOT a flower, rose petal guy, had some trouble getting his bag open in time. All of a sudden as Mr. A & I pass him, you see this sudden thrust of flowers come out of his bag. I crack up every time. So my Daddy.
The funnier part was when we reached the end of the aisle Mr. A asked me to stop. Completely taken off guard, I thought he had a surprise for me. Nope, there was just a petal toss bag on my dress. Someone forgot to take the petals out of the bag and decided instead to just toss the entire bag.
These are the moments you simply can’t make up and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
