So now that you’ve seen our color scheme, I think it’s the perfect time to unveil our beautiful flower selections. I know I’ve hinted before about our flower motif but this time I’m revealing the whole shebang. We wanted to make sure that our flowers complemented our southern, romantic, vintage rose garden theme (I know it’s a lot of adjectives). When I think of flowers that reflect those words, I instantly see big, beautiful, lush blooms like garden roses and peonies. Since we are getting married in May, it is the perfect time for these flowers. We can pretend that I picked a May date just for the pretty flowers but honestly it was a happy accident. So bring on the peonies and the garden roses!!!!

For my bouquet, I want a simple, clean nosegay of blush pink peonies. Oh they are soooo gorgeous. I plan on having the bouquet wrapped in ribbon and then adorned with my great grandmother’s brooch. Peonies have a special association for me because I grew up with a peony bush in front of my parent’s house. I vividly remember watching the ants crawl all over the blush peony blooms every Spring. But hopefully I won’t have any ants on my wedding day

For my bridesmaids, I’m looking for something that is equally as clean as my bouquet, a nosegay of white peonies mixed with white hydrangea. I love how the textures play off of one another in the first picture. I’m not interested in the greenery though. I guess that makes me kind of an anomaly in the floral world. I really don’t like branches or greens or filler flowers. I would much rather have a few large, lush blooms as opposed to a huge arrangement with filler flowers. There is something so elegant about a simple flower arrangement. And that’s definitely the look we love.
Logically, the next flowers to discuss would be bouts. But we aren’t having any. I let Mr. A choose between flowers or pocket squares…and being the manly man that he is, he picked pocket squares. I was secretly hope for this. I’ve never thought bouts were worth the money. In addition to nixing the bouts, we aren’t doing corsages either. My female family members aren’t big flower people and wearing flowers around your wrist is uncomfortable. We are using these savings to finance the big purchase below.

I know you’ve seen this picture before but honestly I can’t get enough of it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can find a florist to reproduce this amazing look on our budget. Le sigh…

For the reception decor, we want to continue the clean, lush, big bloom look. Yesterday, I showed you the milk glass containers we have collected. We are going to space out about 3 to 4 of these containers on each table. The glasses will be filled with blush pink blooms like garden roses and peonies.

We haven’t decided what look we want for the cake but I would be happy with either one of these pictures. I know, I know…that the last one isn’t going to happen. That’s way too much cake for 100 people and I don’t even want to begin to guess how expensive all those peonies would be. It’s pretty amazing though. I love the idea of a simple white cake elegantly decorated with few accents of pink blooms.
The whole floral look we are going for is pretty simplistic. We just want beautiful blooms, no fillers, no greens, just flowers. Every time we meet with a florist, they always comment on how “easy” we are. I guess that’s a compliment? Either way, I don’t care. I’m just excited to have these pretty flowers!
Were you an “easy” flower person?

oh I love peonies! My mother has a bush in her yard and I love seeing the ants crawl all over the buds before they bloom!
I heart peonies… Every time I'm on your blog I'm blown away by how similar our taste is… hehee. Love love love your flower concept.
I think I am going with white orchids, white roses and a few light pink dahlias in my bouquet (simple, elegant, yet tropical) and the bridesmaids will have simple white bouquets…
@Miss JD-That sounds like a perfect combination to meld your elegant tastes with the tropic location! I was definitely staring at the dahilas on your blog the other day
Love your ideas! Peonies are so beautiful. I'm making the guys' bouts out of feathers. I thought it seemed like kind of a cool alternative to flowers. My mom is easy going on the corsage and given the fabric she's chosen I don't think she'll want a pin on one and she's already mentioned that she doesn't want anything around her wrist.
Thanks for the comment Leana! Bouts out of feathers sounds cool!
